Luckily, there are a few reasons for optimism...
- Madison Bumgarner bounced back, and was really good (albeit against a not-very-good offense). 6 IP, 1 R, 7 K and zero unintentional walks. ZERO. And this is against a team with a BB% of 9.6%, so they aren't exactly bad at drawing walks (unlike the SF Giants -- 7.0%).
- Five different Giants drew a walk. Pablo Sandoval (!), Cody Ross (!), Miguel Tejada (!), Aaron Rowand (!), and of course, Pat Burrell.
- Guillermo Mota was really good (in 1.2 IP, that is). 0 R, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 H.
Yeah, that's pretty much it.
On the negative side...
- Miguel Tejada grounded into a double play to end the game. Didn't see that one coming.
- James McDonald made the Giants look bad in six innings, and managed to accrue 3 Ks and 4 BB while doing so. Perhaps a little bad luck for the Giants.
- Aubrey Huff continues to struggle.
- The Giants, as a team, collected a grand total of six hits.
- Dan Runzler has "the Thing".
A win tomorrow, and the Giants are in pretty good shape. I'll take a road-series win anytime.
