- I can't believe anybody would actually say this about Bryan Stow. Terribly offensive and insensitive.
- Bruce Bochy's bullpen utilization has made no sense thus far. I fear that Guillermo Mota will soon implode, taking the Giants down with him.
- Gary Brown has shown improved BB% in six High-A games this year. It's only six games, yes, but it's a reason for optimism, eh?
- Brandon Belt is moving to right field. I disagree with Calcaterra, in that there's a chance Belt might actually be playing a good amount of outfield this year. It's only a matter of time before his BABIP regresses to normal levels (and he thus exits this slump), so if he's a decent defensive OF, he could get some playing time out there throughout the season.
- Rory Paap, friend of the blog, took a look at Tim Lincecum over at the Hardball Times.
- Yahoo Sports has a touching story on the Giants' generosity and clubhouse attendant David Loewenstein. (h/t OGC)
- Baseball-Reference has a post on single-season HR records...It's easy to forget how consistently Sammy Sosa managed to put up 50+ HR seasons. Barry Bonds had just one, while Sosa had four.
- I am extremely jealous of Sam Fuld and his defense. He's made some incredible catches in the outfield; the Giants have done the opposite.
- On a similar note, I'm jealous of the Athletics' shrewd move to retain one of their young starters.
- This was a nice wake-up call because I've really been taking batting order too seriously of late. Having Jason Heyward in the 6 spot, as opposed to the 2 spot, makes an effective difference of about four runs. That's it.
- And I'll give you this, because you've probably forgotten about Jeff Suppan by now.
