- Hat trick for Aaron Rowand, whose inevitable decline (after a BABIP-fueled hot April) has begun. His wRC+ is currently 102 (just 2% above league average), and that's with a relatively high batting average on balls in play (.351...about 30 points above his career norm). That said, he's been quite useful. It's rather convenient that he's fading right as Andres Torres nears his return.
- Mike Fontenot had a couple of walks today. Worth noting, because the Giants don't do that very often. He continues a good 2011 campaign (though there's certainly regression in store for him).
- Aubrey Huff! Three for four. It's very good to see him get going because for better or for worse, he's one of the big bats in the lineup.
- Bad game for Buster Posey, who went 0 for 5. It'd be good to see him start hitting. Though that could be said about pretty much everybody in the lineup...
- Fantastic outing by Tim Lincecum, who finished on a strong note (striking out the last five batters he faced). I predicted Roy Halladay would once again win the NL Cy Young award this season. Lincecum's making me regret that decision.
While the Giants looked good today, they did only manage to score two runs, so there's not much to be excited about in that respect. They just need to hang in there until the lineup is improved (hopefully by the addition of Brandon Belt, and the respective returns of Pablo Sandoval and Andres Torres).
