Mark DeRosa's left wrist strain --
Baggs described it pretty well.
In a strange scene, DeRosa exited the game in the fourth inning after flinching suddenly while taking a 1-2 pitch. DeRosa didn't even check his swing. He merely began to load his hands when he almost jumped out of the batter's box in apparent pain. He flung his helmet down the tunnel as trainer Dave Groeschner escorted him inside.
It was really a sad scene. There's a good chance that his career is over. And this probably cements his signing as one of the worst in recent Giants history.
Then, there was the eighth inning.
I just don't get it. Can someone explain this to me? There are runners on first and second, but the Giants have a three-run lead, and there are two outs. And a right-handed hitter is coming to bat, and it's a bad one at that. Sergio Romo's been great this year, and throughout his career by nearly every single metric. Why is he not trusted to at least pitch to that one batter, who just so happens to be hitting .214/.288/.328 entering the night. Why? That's what frustrates me the most.
And then there's Aubrey Huff at first base on the James Loney single.
I guarantee, at the very least, Brandon Belt would not have let that ball get through to the outfield.
Oh yeah, and Brian Wilson and Aaron Rowand both hurt themselves (in addition to the aforementioned DeRosa injury).
Brian Wikson stepped in a hole, turned his ankle. Day to day.
Rowand hurt his back. Also could be OK tomorrow. DeRosa going back to SF tmrw and Giants will DL him.
Now, I could be excited that the Giants finally did well against Clayton Kershaw. But I'm inclined to think that they were a little lucky...

Anyway, the Giants won. And in the end, that's all that matters............right? I've said it before. I'll say it again. This team just needs to survive until the point where they have Brandon Belt and Pablo Sandoval both in the starting lineup on a daily basis. Until then, well, this team's going to be extremely frustrating to watch. Even when they win.
