-- Jonathan Sanchez can best be described as frustrating to watch. Every game it seems, he racks up strikeouts, and racks up walks. Today, for example, he had six strikeouts and six walks. He did that once in 2009, and once in 2010, but this is the third time he's done it this year. And we're halfway through the season.
-- Andres Torres has been a lot worse in 2011 in just one aspect of his game: power. Over 740 PA from 2009-2010, he maintained an ISO at roughly .225; this year, it's been down to .138, which is barely above league average. So that home run today -- well, that was very nice to see. As were those other two hits. Torres isn't on a lucrative contract, and nobody expects him to be the driving force of this team -- but this is a guy that was worth nearly seven wins last year. Man, would it be nice if he started hitting like he did in 2009-2010.
-- Take a moment, if you will, to appreciate this bullpen. Jonathan Sanchez allowed three runs through 4.2 innings; which is a lot, considering how awful this offense is. The bullpen was nearly flawless though: 13 batters faced, 13 outs recorded.
-- I'm not hugely invested in fantasy baseball, but I recently started playing Ottoneu pick-six (pick six players each day, and you're awarded points based on this sytem). It's pretty addictive. I went ahead and created a Splashing Pumpkins pick-six group, so please do go ahead and join! It's fun, I promise.
