Game Recap: Reds 3, Giants 0

Let's focus on the positives from this game --

Yep, that's about it.

...

Other news and notes (because I don't feel like talking about this game):

-- Hector Sanchez was promoted to Fresno (from San Jose). Schulman writes --
The Giants want to see what they have in Sanchez before making a deal. It's not far-fetched to consider a catcher that young jumping from San Jose to the majors in the same season. Pablo Sandoval began 2008 in San Jose and was in San Francisco by Aug. 14, three days after he turned 22.

Interesting to see them taking an aggressive approach with Sanchez. He'd been hitting well in San Jose, but one thing to note: he had five walks in 184 PAs. Small sample size, yes, but certainly something to worry about going forward. Naturally, I'm skeptical about Sanchez's abilities in the majors in 2011, but that's the same stance I took when Brandon Crawford was called up....and look how that turned out.

-- Pablo Sandoval and Mike Fontenot rehabbed with the Grizzlies tonight. The Giants will, needless to say, benefit from their returns (which is now a matter of days).

-- Ryan Verdugo continued an excellent 2011 campaign with another great start yesterday. He's converted to a starter this year, and the move's worked out quite well.

-- SF Dugout had an excellent breakdown of the Giants' 2011 draft.
