Rodrigo Lopez will take the mound for the DBacks. Here's how he's done against the Giants this year:
5/20 @ARI...5.0 IP, 10 H, 2 HR, 6 ER, 1 K, 2 BB
7/22 @ARI...7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 HR, 3 ER, 7 K, 1 BB
8/29 @SF...4.0 IP, 8 H, 0 HR, 5 ER, 3 K, 1 BB
An ERA of 7.88 in those three starts...the Giants can't afford to lose such an easy game.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Sanchez has been on fire.
September has been his best month so far, with an incredible 0.73 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and a K/BB ratio of 3.10. He's gone five innings and allowed one earned run in each of his two starts against Arizona this year.
He'll also be pitching on an extra day of rest, which is significant. On starts with five days of rest (12 this year), he has an ERA of 1.57, as opposed to an ERA of 4.58 on regular rest (16 starts).
In other news...Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum have both been nominated for Pitcher of the Week, after great, clutch performances.
Padres lost, which means if the Giants win their next two series, they win the NL West...one game at a time...but that Mets game (that was taken from us by bad umpiring -- Phil Cuzzi) really hurts right about now...
