Worst Draft in San Francisco Giants History: 1976

Of the 40 players selected by the Giants in the 1976 draft, only four of them made the majors:

Year Rnd OvPck Pos WAR G
1976 9 203 Renie Martin (minors) RHP -1.2 174
1976 23 537 Mike Couchee (minors) RHP -0.2 8
1976 26 596 Jeff Stember (minors) RHP -0.2 1
1976 28 627 Steve Macko (minors) 3B 0.1 25

Renie Martin, Mike Couchee, and Steve Macko actually didn't sign with the Giants (they signed with other teams in subsequent drafts).

Jeff Stember made one lone start for the Giants, the only game of his career. For his efforts, he racked up -0.2 wins above replacement.

So all in all, the Giants got three innings of sub-replacement value from this draft. Worst in Giants history. Not far behind it is their 1991 draft, though the Giants only had one of the first 100 overall picks in that draft.
