  • According to ESPN, the lowest September ERA over the last 50 years is held by the Dodgers, who had an ERA of 1.59 in September of 1965. The Giants' ERA this month is currently 1.44
  • The Giants are 20 games over .500 for the first time since the final day of the 2004 season, when they had a record of 91-71.
  • Cody Ross is currently riding a seven-game hit streak, during which he's batted .346

From Wikipedia:

Game Score is a metric devised by Bill James to determine the strength of a pitcher in any particular baseball game. To determine a starting pitcher's game score:
  1. Start with 50 points.
  2. Add 1 point for each out recorded, so 3 points for every complete inning pitched.
  3. Add 2 points for each inning completed after the 4th.
  4. Add 1 point for each strikeout.
  5. Subtract 2 points for each hit allowed.
  6. Subtract 4 points for each earned run allowed.
  7. Subtract 2 points for each unearned run allowed.
  8. Subtract 1 point for each walk.
The red line represents starts 1-5 for Lincecum in September. The blue line represents starts 1-5 for Lincecum in August. He's clearly done a lot better this month...
