Giants Sign Josh Banks

Per Chris Haft, the Giants just signed RHP Josh Banks to a minor-league deal. The 28 year-old will be stashed in AAA to provide depth for the team. His major-league experience is minimal -- 27 career appearances, 19 of them starts. And he hasn't exactly dazzled, with a career WHIP of 1.550 to go along with 4.1 K/9. In AAA last year with Round Rock, the Astros' minor league affiliate, he was pretty serviceable, posting a 4.04 ERA and a 1.247 WHIP. He's nothing special, as his K rates indicate, but he'll be perfectly fine for adding depth to the Grizzlies' rotation and some insurance for the Giants' rotation. Another prudent move by Giants management.
