- I've been invited to become a contributor over at Beyond the Box Score. If you're not already a frequent reader of BtB (in which case, well, what's wrong with you?!), I urge you to check it out.
- SP has teamed up with TiqIQ to bring you awesome deals on tickets. Check out the widget on the right sidebar. Basically, TiqIQ aggregates all major sellers in the market, making it easy for fans to find the best deals on tickets to games. Here's a preview image I've been given.
- I will be appearing on the Crazy Crabbers podcast tomorrow at 8 PM PT. Go check it out!
Okay, now that I'm done with that shameless self-promotion, onto the links and news-bytes...
- Steve Sommer makes his Hardball Times debut with an excellent examination of the adjustments Tim Lincecum has made.
- For 13,000 innings over nine seasons, Giants pitchers have outperformed their expected HR/FB by 1.5%, which is quite significant. Is Dave Righetti to thank for this?
- Paapfly looked back at one of the worst trades in recent Giants history -- when the Giants traded Boof Bonser, Francisco Liriano, and Joe Nathan for A.J. Pierzynski.
- Crazy Crabbers looked at Barry Bonds' Gold Glove seasons, and well, he didn't deserve most of them.
- Bay City Ball developed a scatter plot of every Giants team from 1900-2010 based on runs scored and runs allowed. Some interesting finds here --- including how truly awful the Giants offense was from 2007-2009.
- J.T. Snow won't appear on the Hall of Fame ballot until 2014 because of a somewhat ridiculous rule.
- Adam Darowski has begun to build his Hall of wWAR over at Beyond the Box Score, and his post on first basemen was especially interesting, as it knocks one former Giant out of the Hall, and inducts another former Giant.
- Matt Cain appears to be recovering well. According to Baggs, he came out of his bullpen session fine, and will throw in a simulated game on Thursday.
- Bengie Molina isn't yet officially retired. Given the general paucity of catchers in the majors, I wouldn't be surprised if Molina latches onto a team.
- Aaron Rowand tweaked his groin on Saturday.
- Buster Posey got his contract hammered out the other day.
That's it for now. I promise, I'll get a few legitimate posts up this week. Let's face it though, Spring Training recaps are boring and pointless. I'd much rather bore you with actual content. So yeah, look forward to that.
