Ah, that's what I've been waiting for. |
First of all, Tim Lincecum had a beautiful outing. For the 27th time in his career, he reached double-digit strikeouts in a game, which now ties him with Jason Schmidt for the SF-era franchise record. His outing earned him a game score of 80, which marks the tenth time he's achieved a game score of 80+.
Seven innings, three hits, one earned run, thirteen strikeouts -- and my favorite stat of the night: zero walks. This is just the fifth time in his career that he's had 10+ strikeouts in a game without walking a single batter.

But there was more to like about this game...
The overall offensive performance was awesome, for example. Three Giants had 3+ hits -- Aubrey Huff, Pablo Sandoval, and Buster Posey. Very nice to see this out of them because ultimately, these are the guys that the Giants will be relying on to drive this offense. Oh yeah, and Brandon Belt collected two hits.
Perhaps my favorite part of this game -- the highest-leverage situation in this game only had an LI of 1.70; in other words, the game, at its worst, wasn't very tense. Torture-free baseball is nice every once in a while. Uh, yeah, I could have done without that ninth inning drama. But it was only a minor blip on the win probability graph.
I'm no psychic, but I predicted the outcome of this game*:
I'll do it...I'm guaranteeing a W today. RT @MUrbanCSN Finally returning to studio today for #SFGiants pregam… (cont) http://deck.ly/~94M55
*Note: I only look back at my predictions when they're accurate
Anyway, all in all, a much-needed (for my sanity's sake) win. And now the Giants get to come back home.
