Game Recap: A's 5, Giants 2
The problem with Tim Lincecum seems relatively simple. His command is just a little off. In the earlier innings, he wasn't throwing strikes. The whiffs were there; the velocity was there; and he seemed to have settled down in the fifth and sixth innings, so yeah...still not worried.
The offense sucks. But you know what doesn't help? Leaving Pat Burrell (the Giants' fourth best bat by wRC+) on the bench. With the designated hitter, the Giants have a prime opportunity to slide Burrell's bat into the lineup without his awful defense coming into play. Unfortunately, this opportunity was used to fit....Miguel Tejada's bat in the lineup. There's even speculation that Burrell will be let go, which would be a poor decision.
Oh yeah, and don't look now, but that Cody Ross guy is continuing to put together a pretty nice season at the plate.
