-- Ryan Vogelsong is really good. Not just a replacement fifth starter doing a fine job, but really good. With 6 K and 1 BB in six innings tonight, he brought his overall K/BB to 3.00; among pitchers with 50+ IP, that roughly puts him in the top 30 in the major leagues.
-- Where was Sergio Romo? I don't know why I must keep asking this, but he's the best arm out of the 'pen (arguably better than Brian Wilson); and there's no reason to use Santiago Casilla -- one of the weaker arms out of the 'pen -- for two innings in a close game.
-- On a similar note, Jeremy Affeldt appears to be good once more. Four strikeouts in two innings, all four of them swinging. A good Affeldt makes Casilla all the more expendable. A straight-up trade of Casilla-for-Torrealba would be a good move, and better sooner than later.
-- Aubrey Huff's starting to come around, and I've taken note. In the month of June (entering tonight), he's got an excellent wRC+ of 169, along with a healthy BB/K of 1.25...add to that a couple of singles tonight. Needless to say, a resurgent Huff would do wonders for this offense.
