Game Recap: Giants 2, Rockies 1

Ryan Vogelsong's start today was nothing short of beautiful. Completely efficient and dominant. He needed just 99 pitches to get through eight innings. He elicited 14 swinging strikes on 99 pitches (roughly 14% SwStr rate where 8.5% is average), struck out seven, allowed just one walk, and kept the ball on the ground (12 GB).

What he's doing is simply unfathomable. It nearly defies logic. But it's awesome.

On another note, Miguel Tejada batted second again, which, in spite of the fact that the Giants are now 6-1 when he bats there, is nonsensical. He had a couple of singles in this game, but guess what? He still sucks. I doubt we'll see him on this team within two weeks.

Pat Burrell once again demonstrated his value to this team, working a six-pitch walk off the bench which would later be the winning run. Funny how people tend to forget that a lot of the great late-inning Darren Ford baserunning has come after pinch-running for Burrell, who gets on base. In this case, it was Emmanuel Burriss that did the PRing.

All in all, another awful day for the Giants offense though. But let's forget about that. Today, we admire the incredible story of Ryan Vogelsong.

Vogelsong: 2011 NL All Star. Make it happen, Boch'.
