Evidence:
- Aaron Rowand started, and actually made a significant contribution (his solo home run got the Giants on the board in the seventh).
- Miguel Tejada's defense was pretty decent -- and there are not one -- but two video highlights on MLB.com of good defensive plays made by Tejada.
- Jeremy Affeldt hit in the tenth inning, and drew a walk.
- The Giants actually drew seven walks.
Some more notes...
- Tim Lincecum notched career K #1000, though he didn't have a great start. The SweetSpot Blog has a nice piece on Lincecum, asking if he's on pace for all-time greatness.
- Conor Gillaspie got his second career hit, and his first since 2008. It could be the last one we see from him for a while, as Pablo Sandoval is set to return soon.
- John Lannan dominated the Giants, which comes as no surprise because mediocre starters have a tendency to do that to this team.
- Freddy Sanchez continued what has been an excellent under-the-radar season, drawing a couple of walks in addition to a couple of hits (one of which was the game-winning hit).
- Miguel Tejada (1 for 6) is still an awful hitter, and it's still foolish to bat him second in the lineup. But thank goodness he beat out that double play in the 13th inning.
