Game Recap: Giants 6, Diamondbacks 5

You know who's been hitting really well? Cody Ross. He's really flown under the radar this year.

Entering this game, he'd gone .283/.377/.492 in 138 PA in May and June, truly excellent when taking into account that offense is down league-wide.

He continued that tonight, with a couple of doubles and a walk.

This game was just a reminder that, in spite of all that's gone wrong, things are looking good. The Brandon Crawford experiment has worked to the extent that he's an acceptable option at shortstop (more than can be said for Miguel Tejada). Pablo Sandoval is back, and is clearly good Panda once more. Aubrey Huff might actually be heating up -- the two walks he drew tonight were pretty significant because they (hopefully) show that he's moving toward becoming more selective at the plate. And Andres Torres has still got it.

Is this too optimistic? Well, here's a depressing stat for you...

On June 2nd, the Giants hit four home runs. Since then, they've hit three. That's three home runs over an 11-game span. For perspective, Prince Fielder has hit eight home runs over that same span.
