Game Recap: Giants 5, Dodgers 0

Ryan Vogelsong is just ...well, good. It's pretty simple, really.

The fastball:

Gotta give credit to Stewart on this one for an excellent framing job.

And the curve:

So....

The Giants have six starters. Ryan Vogelsong is arbitration-eligible. Jonathan Sanchez is arbitration-eligible. Barry Zito is ...Barry Zito.

It'll certainly be interesting to see when and how this situation works itself out. It makes little sense for the Giants to trade Sanchez at this moment in time though, because I can guarantee they would not get a fair return.

Some other notes:

  • I would take Miguel Tejada on Miguel Tejada's contract over Juan Uribe on Juan Uribe's contract without hesitation.
  • I wish the Giants had the audacity to call up Brandon Belt right away and install him as the starting first baseman. I've waited on Aubrey Huff for quite some time now, and at this point in time, there is no doubt in my mind that Belt is better than Huff.
  • In case you didn't notice, Ryan Vogelsong has the best qualified ERA in the National League.
  • In his last 21 games, Nate Schierholtz is batting .380 with five walks, eight extra-base hits (three homers, five doubles), and just nine strikeouts in his last 86 plate appearances. I'm likin' it.
