Game Recap: Giants 3, A's 0

Not much to say about this one. Andres Torres drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the 1st, and quickly came around to score on a Freddy Sanchez double and an RBI groundout by Buster Posey. It would be a lead the Giants would never relinquish. Tim Lincecum allowed three hits and struck out only six for his first complete game of the year. It was a good win overall against the scuffling A's. The Rockies lost in Milwaukee again, so the Giants now hold a 2.5 game lead in the NL West, for whatever it's worth.

Some quick notes and observations...

  • The A's have some pretty bad arms in the outfield. Last night, David DeJesus chucked a rainbow on the game-ending play, and today, Coco Crisp couldn't cut down Cody Ross from shallow center field on Miguel Tejada's flyball.
  • Speaking of bad, Ryan Sweeney and Conor Jackson filled the third and fourth spots in the lineup respectively for the A's. Not to take anything away from Lincecum, but these two guys aren't even everyday players this year.
  • Buster Posey went 2 for 4 with a double, raising his average to .284 for the season. Why were we even worried about the guy? And yes, I think we are officially done with comparing his batting line to that of Jonathan Sanchez.

The Giants play tomorrow at 1:05 PM with two out of three in the bag. It'll be the aforementioned Sanchez against Gio Gonzalez -- two very similar pitchers. I expect a boatload of walks, and a ton of strikeouts.
