Game Recap: Giants 5, A's 4

Notes on the Giants' walk-off win...

  • This marked just the third time since 2005 that the Giants have had 11 different players get a hit in a game.
  • Player of the game: Nate Schierholtz (.348 WPA), whose home run was the turning point in this game. So far this season, he's been roughly average with the bat (wRC+ of 99 this season) which, in addition to his plus glove and above-average baserunning skills, would make him a player of pretty decent value over the course of a full season.
  • Buster Posey's hit streak is now at 11 games.
  • Per the SJ Merc News, Pablo Sandoval is possibly two weeks away from returning. All things considered, the Giants are in great shape once he returns, with Brandon Belt also presumably close to a return.

Just a programming note, things might be quieter here these next few weeks than usual, but I'll try to keep the site updated as frequently as possible.
